Architect: Six Degrees Architects

This three-bedroom dwelling marrying two new buildings is a classic example of Six Degrees design, a leader in the reuse of buildings and building materials. The challenge for Frank was to coax the diverse and largely reused materials into a coherent conversation. They embody the authenticity of their bayside urban site – hardwood and brick sourced locally, timber posts with a maritime past and reused stained glass, for example. Brought together in this new residential context, the diverse materials needed to create a comfortable place that would both function as and express the notion of hearth and home, while reflecting the eclectic tastes of the client.
